Cute little market with snacks and hugeeeee sandwiches. I definitely did not expect it to be that big and was not able to finish one to myself. Definitely shareable or get half. I wanted to try some of their cakes, but those slices looked huge too! Definitely come with an appetite or be ready to share.
We were stopping through after the aquarium and found this amazing hole in the wall! Literally the best sandwich I have ever had . It was so good I didn't even remember to take a photo ! The man at the front counter is so nice and helpful . I want to go back to Monterey just to have a sandwich from here again !
I went here 3 yrs ago with some buddies from dental school, and I still refer all my friends to go eat here even though it's been quite some time since I've gone here to eat. Great sandwiches and dessert. One sandwich could feed 2 people, but it was so tasty I ate the entire sandwich myself.
The owner is hilarious. He's got some dry humor, and tells you things are they are. I like this place, no fluff and to the point. This place has straight up quality food for a good price. I hope to eat here again soon next time I'm in town.
Neighborhood joint, seems like all the locals know about this place as we took our sandwich down by they beach and they all asked "Compagnos?"
The sandwich joint was smack in the middle of a neighborhood, and I knew it was going to be a treat as I saw local about 2 blocks from the place carrying a huge sandwich back to what I was guessing his house.
Check the menu online before hand, mark your sando and favorites on a clip board and pass it to the gent at counter for QC (he was super helpful), then hand the inspected sheet to the counter when ready. Peruse the million variety of chips and drinks while waiting.
The classic hogie was spot on, good bread and lots of fixings. The thing was bigger than my head and I was defeated, probably a HALF will be plenty next time. My better half got the club half and she only ate half of the half. Good times.
Its a bit rough on the exterior but there is a diamond in there.
Definitely a must eat!
